About the Author
Peter Gn�dig graduated as a physicist from Roland E�tv�s University (ELTE) in Budapest in 1971 and received his PhD degree in theoretical particle physics there in 1980. Currently he is a researcher (in high energy physics) and a lecturer in the Department of Atomic Physics at ELTE. Since 1985 he has been one of the leaders of the Hungarian Olympic team taking part in the International Physics Olympiad.

Gyula Honyek graduated as a physicist from E�tv�s University (ELTE) in Budapest in 1975 and finished his Ph.D. studies there in 1977, after which he stayed on as a researcher and lecturer in the Department of General Physics. In 1984, following a two-year postgraduate course, he was awarded a teacher's degree in physics, and in 1985 transferred to the teacher training school at ELTE. His current post is as mentor and teacher at Radn�ti Grammar School, Budapest. Since 1986 he has been one of the leaders and selectors of the Hungarian team taking part in the International Physics Olympiad.

Ken Riley read Mathematics at the University of Cambridge and proceeded to a Ph.D. there in theoretical and experimental nuclear physics. He became a Research Associate in elementary particle physics at Brookhaven, and then, having taken up a lectureship at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, continued this research at the Rutherford Laboratory and Stanford; in particular he was involved in the discovery of a number of the early baryonic resonances.

Challenging problems for honors physics students

The problems are generally at the level of International Physics Olympiad competitions or higher, and are very suitable for freshman/sophomore honors physics courses. The problems are tough and very interesting, with many unique and unusual twists, guaranteed to challenge even the best students preparing for physics competitions at the senior high school and undergraduate levels. I would guess that those sitting for PhD qualifying exams will have difficulties with some of the problems. The surprise is that the solutions require no more than elementary calculus, although lots of original critical thinking and insight are necessary.

Gnadig and Honyek are both leading the Hungarian physics olympiad teams for many years, while Riley is a Fellow of Clare College, University of Cambridge. Riley had a previous equally interesting but slightly less difficult problem book called "Problems for Physics Students," covering quite a few interesting Cambridge Natural Sciences Tripos and entrance exam type questions for the best UK high school students.

If you are a physics buff, you will derive countless hours of enjoyment (and frustration - if you resist the temptation of looking at the provided solutions too soon), plus it will bring your understanding of classical physics to a deeper level.

A few other worthy physics problem books include Thomas & Raine's "Physics to a Degree" for undergraduates, and Dendy's "Cambridge Problems in Physics" for high school students aiming for Cambridge University entrance. The Russian books "Problems in General Physics" by Irodov and "Problems in Elementary Physics" by Bukhovtsev are very good too but they may be harder to find. An upcoming excellent (and tough) classical mechanics problem book is David Morin's Physics 16 course text at Harvard - still in its draft form but downloadable from Harvard website.

Coming home again to where you belong

I really enjoyed this new biker romance quite a bit...the author has greatly improved her storytelling since her Desperado series and although I really enjoy reading all kinds of books with alpha male badboys, bikers are my favorite.
The story of Maggie, a woman raised in an MC and coming back home to her father for protection from her stalker criminal boyfriend and having to face Jase, (her EX who she ran away from), has been done before (in fact the name Jase has been used so many times it's all a blur)...but in this case, there was a really deep emotional story to go with the scenarios and the characters were well written and more complex.
Fathers and daughters who share a tragic past and who have strained relationships because of those issues, are always tough to read about, but I was very pleased with the progression of how they mended their fences and how the violent events surrounding Maggie's return home brought them back together. Jase is that kind of tough guy with a heart of gold and inside the muscular and sexy exterior is a teddy bear who just wants to be appreciated and loved.
There was plenty of sex and violence in this one but also some surprising developments and sweet emotional confrontations that made it all worth reading and I recommend it to all my biker/hard romance loving friends!

Sanctum rocked!

I received this book as an ARC and could not put it down! I am a huge fan of MC stories and usually go into a new read a little reserved. This story hooked me immediately. I like that the characters were "real" people and not "perfect" ones that made no mistakes. They messed up in the past and are in the present trying to change that. I will not spoil the story or the surprise at the end:) Great job Sienna! I loved it and am looking forward to the next one! Thanks for letting me read it early!

I love this author, I love this book

Maggie bit off her nose to spite her face, and discovered she bit off more than she could chew. Her father Henry is the leader of the Black Dogs MC club. He raised her alone after her mother died and was too protective, wanted to keep her separate from the club and from Jase, the boy he had taken in, the boy she fell in love with. When Jase would not leave the club with her, she left w/o him. Big mistake. This is a story of regret, bad choices, the price paid for making bad choices. It keeps you on your toes until the end. Definitely worth reading.

"I have been using the third edition of Bryan Manly’s "Multivariate Statistical Methods" in my graduate class on System Analysis for the last three years. Personally, I like this book and I advise my students to continue using it, even after the course is over, as it serves as a compact guide to multivariate statistics. It is a short textbook, but it still nicely covers a variety of different and difficult topics, and it demonstrates the many possible approaches to solving a given problem. The book is quite well organized; it includes some necessary mathematical background such as linear algebra, but also good examples and different sets of interesting data which are used to illustrate different methods. Later these sets are needed to solve problems, which could be used by students to assist their homework assignments. I am looking forward to using this new and improved edition of the book in my courses!"�

About the Author
Judi Barrett is the author of many beloved books for children, including Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Pickles to Pittsburgh, Never Take a Shark to the Dentist, and Things That Are Most in the World. She teaches art to kindergarten students at a school in her Brooklyn, New York, neighborhood.

Ron Barrett's children book illustrations have been honored by the Society of Illustrators and have been exhibited at The Louvre in Paris. I want to live there

I like food, so naturally a book about a place that has food for weather really gets to my soul.

I'm getting a bit tired of it though because my daughter ALSO likes hearing the story and I'm afraid she is going to figure out how to get there before I do.
Secret Weapon: she falls asleep. I have coffee. Suck it, child!

Poor Quality Kindle edition

Poor quality ebook for Kindle. I purchased the Kindle edition to use in my classroom as an introduction to teaching probability. I have Kindle app on my Windows 8 computer. It is displayed poorly and you can often not see the detail. The words are too tiny, and you are unable to see the detail in the illustrations. Even with the book displayed on the SMART board for my students to see, it is difficult to see the detail, especially when there is a two page spread. There is no way to display the text larger, and there is no way to zoom to one page level. On the other hand, the story itself is as fabulous as always.

My Favorite Book As A Kid, My Favorite Gift To Give Now

This is my all time favorite children's book. Long before the animated movies came out, I used to tout the virtues of this book. In college, when my friends with education majors had to read and review 50 children's books, I'd tell them all to be sure to include this one. Now, every 1st birthday of any niece, nephew, or friend's kid, I buy them this book and write a little something on the inside cover. While 1 year old is a little young, we just kind of tell the story while looking at the pictures rather than read every word. It is my 1 year old nephew's favorite book and my 4 year old niece always remembers I gave her the book each time her parents read it to her. I'm very happy that they turned this into a board book. It is much more durable now for little ones to hold the book themselves. I cannot recommend this book more highly.
