OK, but not the best

Not terrible, but it could be better.
There are strength and weakness.

The strength of book is practice problems with solutions.
Although it provides only the final answers,
they are very helpful, because many problems ask to draw plots, and the answer is right there.

Now the weakness of book.
First, chapters on discrete systems are often written much briefer than equivalent chapters for continuous systems,
making it impossible to understand discrete systems before continuous systems.
It would be much better if chapters on both continuous and discrete systems are self-contained,
so that the reader can start with either one.

Second, it can lead to misunderstanding on DTFS and DFT.
It compares {CTFS, DFT} as a continuous-discrete pair. (which is wrong, it should be {CTFS, DTFS} pair).
The DTFS is covered very briefly. (2 pages)
This kind of structure can cause misunderstandings.

Now, here is my suggestion.
1. Signals and Systems (2nd Edition)
The standard. Excellent structure.
but weak on some topics (LTI system properties, filters, etc).
2. Continuous and Discrete Time Signals and Systems with CD-ROM
Excellent structure. Very clear explanation. Lots of Figures (helpful in convolution). Covers filter design.
3. Linear Systems and Signals, 2nd Edition
Excellent for self-study. Very clear explanation.
but the chapter order may be different from class lecture (Laplace & z comes before Fourier)

Not a good book at all as an introductory signal class. I'd suggest to use books by B.P Lath, and stay away from this book as far as possible.

Bad book, select much better books by Laithi or Oppenheim

Terrible book. Would recommend books such as Oppenheim's Signals and Systems or Laithi's Linear Systems and Signals.
A very good book on the subject that is easy to follow as a quick guide is Signals and Systems Made Ridiculously Simple
by Zoher Z. Karu.
Stay away from Roberts book if at all possible. Confuses even easy to understand topics.

About the Author
Jonathan Langley was born in Lancaster in 1952. He studied graphic design and illustration at Liverpool College of Art and the Central School of Art and Design. He also studied bookbinding at Camberwell School of Art. In 1974 he became a freelance illustrator, working in publishing, editorial, advertising and design. Jonathan has illustrated numerous books for children. He lives in the English Lake District with his wife and three children.

Geotechnical special� ists, however, generally have acquired considerable formal or informal training beyond their first engineering degree, and an advanced degree with considerable cross-discipline course content is still considered an advantage for a young engineer entering a career in geotechnical engineering. Practical job experience is, of course, a necessary part of professional development but is readily interpreted and assimilated only if the required background training has been obtained.

A unique, creative, and easy to use beginning book!

Matt Adrianson has broken new ground with this unique approach to beginning drum set. This method is long overdue and fits in perfectly with today's youth, who are accustomed to playing what they see from games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero. This is the easiest approach to beginning drum set I have seen in my 25 years of teaching. Along with the visual method, Matt includes a teachers section with all the notation, further adding to the books appeal. Once the student has mastered the beats, he can then look at real notation and make the connection between aural/visual learning and actual note reading. A CD and fun play-along songs round out the book for an all in one method that is a must have for teachers and beginning students of all ages. A book easy enough to use for the aspiring "self taught" drummer, or with a teacher to get you rocking in no time! Highly recommended.

Doesn't look as much like sheet music as you might think it does.

Used this book for several young students, and it works like a charm. Once you explain that the hi-hat beat across the top needs to be steady, they can churn through the beats pretty fast.

In my mind, the "drum tablature" looks very similar to drum sheet music. The back of the book has all the beats written in proper notation, and I spent much time with some scissors and tape to place every real-notation beat right next to its visual-method counterpart. Unfortunately, none of my students can see the similarities between eight pictures of a cymbal on the top line and eight X's on the top line. I find this baffling, but they do enjoy the book and it did take off the pressure of having to learn sheet music while also learning to coordinate your limbs for the first time. Will buy more copies for future students.

GREAT beginner book, no music notation reading needed...

Matt Adrianson has created something unique here, a book that "visually" teaches you how to play drums without needing the prerequisite of prior experience in reading music chart notation. This fresh approach on learning to play drums will certainly give beginners a head-start on some of the common beats that most drummers will have to play, plus the audio CD is there to show you how they are supposed to sound if you're having trouble. This book also has the standard chart notation for the included lessons, so both lesson teachers or those who are starting to learn to read music notation can follow along. Finally, here is a great book that will get someone who wants to learn to play drums today started in the right direction!

Extremely Helpful and Easy to Understand

When I was 12 years old I decided that I wanted to learn Swedish. Since Swedish was going to be my first foreign language and I was learning it by myself, I figured that I should spend my money wisely and only buy a few items. Along with a Swedish-English/engelsk-svensk Dictionary and a book on conjugating Swedish verbs, I bought this. I'd say that if I had to choose only one of those three items to buy, it would be this one because it explained the grammar of all sorts in a manner that even a 12-year-old could understand.. When first I decided that I wanted to learn Swedish I read up on it and learned a bit about its rules. I was especially daunted by the prospect of learning the definite and plural forms of the word, which confused me to no end. However when I read this book I understood it perfectly, along with other things that confused me, like "rolig", "roligt", and "roliga", for example.
I have had this book for a little over one year, and I have read it through, and still go back sometimes to refresh myself. I must say that I do not regret buying this book!
(By the way, its size made it perfect for carrying around---many a morning before school I spent reading this book throughout last year.)
My only woe is that they do not have the same book for Finnish..!

Best Svenska Grammatik out there!

This is the best Swedish grammar book out there. It is very concise, and skips all the nonsense and difficult to understand wording. It has everything you need to know, and is not a heavy, hard to handle book.

I had the older version that my Uncle who married a Swedish woman gave me, and I loved it so much, but it was falling apart from his usage (which was many years ago), so I had to buy myself a new one and was so glad I did.
