A Book for Our Times

Never has the need for this book on the intricacies of floating point arithmetic and how to get it right been greater.
I mean, just look at the prices quoted for a book written when semiconductors were made of Germanium and an AND gate was the size of a small paperback book. Clearly there is something wrong with them, and my guess would be that is because someone has arrived at them by using floating point numbers (and knowing nothing of the sources of error when doing so or how to guard against them) instead of scaled decimal.
Once the prices are properly normalized, this book should be essential reading. Until they are, you should Google "What Every Computer Scientist Should Know About Floating Point Arithmetic by Davis Goldberg" and steer clear of using Floating Point numbers until you have a moderate understanding of what the author is talking about.
