But some of those books seemed to ignore the real background of Paleo diets - the non-processed, simple foods available to men during the Paleolithic period.��I'll immediately grant you that the author is a highly trained nutritionist and practitioner of functional medicine. She has much better credentials than any caveman, but she does appreciate the value of the whole, unprocessed foods and the simple ingredients commonly available in that time. She also understands the biological mechanisms that make Paleo foods healthier for us. Furthermore, she has both personally and professionally seen the benefits of eating the way she describes in the book.We have advantages that cavemen didn't. A caveman just ate whatever he had. No Snickers bars! No refined sugars or flour for that matter. The meat he ate was not grain fed; it came from what we call free range animals. We have broader and more consistently available supplies of food, but not all suited to the health and energy needs of our bodies. As a result, many of the calories we consume are stored as fat.
The book is well-structured and well-written. I didn't notice any formatting, spelling, or grammatical errors. The introductory material was very informative about the genetic and dietary basis for weight loss.
This author explains the foundations of her diet plan before launching into a substantial list of recipes - 365! �No single caveman would have had this luxury, but these foods would have been available somewhere in the world in that time. They would have loved to eat these meals! You will too!

Time to Eat Paleo Style!

I have read so many Paleo books my brain is going to explode! What's great about this guide is you get the personal. The author uses this successful eating strategy to lose weight and tasty recipes to help motivate you to reach your weight loss goals.
This book is sensible and not written with an iron fist! It's all about understanding healthy eating and making better food choices for you!

A great guide to Paleo diet!

This book has changed my perception of food in general. I've read other ebooks on Paleo diet before, but Beran Parry was able to explain the benefits of this diet in a very simple way, and show how vital the Paleo diet is for our bodies. We all have too much of environmental exposure that we have no control of, and controlling the quality of food is something that is in our hands. For me getting skinnier is just a nice benefit of this diet, but I think a health benefit of Paleo diet is of a greater importance. I love the extensive list of Paleo recipes in this book and an easy to use 12 weeks meal plan provided. With a guidance of this book making healthy food choices in life has just got much easier!

A little too sweet in my opinion

Like the author, I am a trained holistic nutritionist. I received my certificate in 2010. I am a Master Herbalist since 2008. I also follow the Paleolithic lifestyle to maintain my health (weight is not my issue). When I saw this book in a recommendation from Amazon in my Kindle, I read the description and thought it might be helpful for the many people who come to me for help. One I could recommend to them.
There is not enough explanation of epigenetics although references are provided. So the main focus is on the recipes of which there are many given. And the 12 week menu plan is an excellent idea.
Where I have a problem with the recipes and especially the menu plan is the preponderance of sweetness, especially the use of liquid stevia. Perhaps an occasional sweet dish using whole foods is appropriate, but for every meal? Sweetening dishes with honey or maple syrup makes more sense than liquid stevia which is processed. Berries or coconut or apples or cinnamon (true cinnamon is sweet) or a combination of these would be even better. But not at every meal.
If I recommended this book, I would have to explain how to modify the recipes and menu plan. But the concept of the book is good.
